We have set up project management, portfolio prioritization and a host of other disciplines assuming that we have the time to analyze data, make well-considered decisions, and have these decisions stick. However, many of us live in a world of ad hoc requests, technology-empowered users, distributed budgets and decision making. The portfolio is obsolete five minutes after the governance meeting ends.
